Conflict Communications is the program that happens when you get an ADD former thug and a probable Aspergers jail guard trying to figure out violence...
It all started with Marc MacYoung and I telling each other stories about talking people down who couldn’t be talked down, stories that usually ended with “How did that work? That shouldn’t have worked.”
The more we talked, the clearer the patterns became.
At this time, I don’t know if Marc will make it or I’ll be teaching solo. In either case, we’ll cover:
•Roots of conflict
•How most conflict are subconscious, scripted and who the scripts serve
•How to tell when you have been hijacked
•How to step off the script if necessary while catering to the underlying need
•How to se-escalate yourself first
•How and why conflict sometimes escalates to violence
Almost every de-escalation training on the market works from the assumption that you will be cool, calm and collected. That you will remember what to do and not be part of the problem yourself. That’s hard to do when a methed-up freak is screaming insults in your face and looks prepared to fight. That’s the environment that we learned this in. It’s just a happy accident that it works on co-workers and family members as well.
